Processes.

Discover Transform an Idea

We connect with our clients to identify a project's unique challenges, then strategize imaginative solutions to transform ideas into interesting content. Whether it be research, brainstorming, mapping, modeling, or prototyping, thorough ideating is a vital step in the success of our content.

Design Shape Content

Once we have identified the solutions needed to transform an idea, our designers craft a stylized visual plan for bringing the project to life. No matter the scope of a project, this blueprint serves as a primary reference point throughout the life of a project.

Make Produce Content

Kickstart's credibility is built upon making content that is personalized, reliable, and effective. Our clients and partners tell us that the greatest service we provide is the experiential confidence to manage the flow and quality of a production from inception to delivery.

Apply Share Content

Once the content exists, depending on the specifications of the project, we direct the content through our system for distributing, publishing, and sharing globally, across various platforms: screen, broadcast, digital, mobile, social.

Collect Analyze Content

When content is made public, we run our system of backend analytics to measure the content's performance in the market. We think that it is not enough to produce engaging content, but to understand and communicate how well it performs.

Results Client Value

Once we analyze the data, we present the results to our clients, so that they can observe, quantifiably, the market impact of our creative content.

She started her production career in 2001 in Vancouver, and spent years cutting her teeth in Kickstart’s Los Angeles office before heading north to build the Canadian studio. Most recently, Heather produced two live-action films for Hallmark Channel and CTV through her Canadian company, Eh-Okay Entertainment. She just completed two films: Pete’s Christmas and The Hunters.

Jay Surridge Development Director, Vancouver

Jay is the Development Director at Kickstart's Vancouver studio, overlooking the development of animated content. He has developed projects with clients such as Warner Bros, Cartoon Network, Disney and Spinmaster over the years as well as continuing as a hands-on director for series and commercial content for over 200 episodes. Most recently Jay has directed on Season 1 of YTV’s Shezow and Season 2 of Hasbro’s RESCUEBOTS.

Jay started as an animator and storyboard artist on Cartoon Networks’ Ed,Edd and Eddy. He moved on to open Pork and Beans Productions Inc. in 1999, and quickly established the company as a leader in Flash, and as a viable production means for television and online media. Providing animation services for one of Canada’s first Flash productions “Yakkity Yak” and numerous cartridge-based games for Leapfrog Entertainment, P&B helped create a fresh upsurge of animation in BC using the Flash animation pipeline. Gordon Crum Director, Vancouver

Raised in the frigid north of British Columbia and the Yukon, Gordon Crum spent most of his youth watching cartoons, eating macaroni and cheese, and drawing. After wasting most of his grade school career doodling, Gordon was relieved to discover Capilano University's Commercial Animation Program. Two years of intense training left Gordon with nary a social life...and a diploma. Fortunately, Gordon has gone on to work as a Character Designer, Storyboard Artist, and most recently Director. His credits include, Atomic Cartoons, Radical Games, and Nick Jr., among others. For the last four years he has found a home working in-house at Kickstart Entertainment.

With his free time Gordon enjoys riding bikes, playing sports, dancing to music in his bedroom, and eating.

Sol Sallee Art Director, Vancouver

Born in Vancouver, Sol learned to draw and paint from cartoons, comics, and a thriving addiction to classic illustration, sequential art, and anime. He attended the IDEA program for design and illustration in North Vancouver and now provides art direction for color, texture, lighting, color scripting and the occasional graphic design task. While away from the office Sol enjoys oil painting, swimming, ball hockey and even moonlights as a dance music DJ with his group Can I Live. Previously utilized often on a freelance basis, Sol has been part of the Kickstart team full-time since Fall 2012.
